Never Judge a Dress on the Hanger

My first impression of this dress on the hanger was “frumpy.” It was loose without any shape and looked almost lifeless. In fact, I wasn’t even looking for a shirt dress with a high low ruffled hem, but when I put it against my body, the silky soft material was the perfect length. You see, finding a maxi isn’t exactly easy when you’re 5 feet tall so I’m always kind of thrill to try on a maxi that might not need hemming.

Well… it was frumpy on but with the bffs: a waist belt, a denim jacket and some accessories, the dress went from drab to (IMHO) fab. Just like a book, you can’t judge by it’s covers, you can’t judge a dress when it’s on a hanger…My accessories and shoes were kept neutral for that boho-chic vibe and I threw in a burgundy (I wish the word oxblood would go away) bag for a subtle hint of color.

A San Francisco Kinda Day!

Living in the SF Bay Area and a short drive from San Francisco, sometimes I take this sweet diversed city for granted, but today it was pretty lovely. Full of randomness, drum players and dancers entertaining on the sidewalk, happy faces on the go, good shopping and the best refreshing blackberry lemonade from The Bistro at Nordstrom.

When things at home are unorganized and out of place, I’d feel really anxious and sometimes overwhelm, so trying to get everything unpacked and organized from our move was a must for me. That’s why I have been trading in my secret breaks to the mall for running errands at Home Depot. So it was certainly nice to get out, enjoy some fresh air, meet with good company, and do some real shopping in the city yesterday.

Hope your weekend was a great one, I’m certainly not ready for it to be over!

Hello Blue Rebel

Love this monogram “KTR” necklace (that resembles my blog logo) but I love it even more since it’s a gift from my dad… Someone else who wears monograms fabulously is one of my fave SF blogger, Atlantic-Pacific, who’s style is impeccable! If you haven’t, make sure you check out her blog.

One of my favorite trend this summer is high-waisted studded distressed denim shorts (that’s a mouth full :). I was looking everywhere from ebay to the usual online stores like NastyGal, ShopBop and UrbanOutfitters, but the ones I really love were well over $200, which I don’t think is worth the price IMO…esp if it’s something that can be made at home.

I was in UrbanOutfitters last week and saw a bunch of “one of a kind” distressed shorts. After inquiring, a sales associate told me those particular shorts were jeans that’s “renewed.” My Translation: Those shorts were denim jeans purchased from thrift stores (or other various vintage shops) for under $10. Then they were cut, distressed, and now selling for $100+.

If I was short on time, I probably would gave in if the exact style and color I wanted was available in stores, but they weren’t… so I set out on yet another DIY adventure to make these babies…and the end result is below. Do you love it?

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that’s just fabulous.” – Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

Happy weekend everyone! I hope you’re enjoying your day today. NR and I enjoyed a nice day together in the city, doing a bit of shopping, browsing, and just hanging out. The sun came back out and the warm weather gave me the desire to wear something fun. This Aqua skirt is perfect because it’s so playful, paired with a loosely-fitted blouse and denim vest made for a casual look. This is my perfect day-out outfit.
