Never Judge a Dress on the Hanger
My first impression of this dress on the hanger was “frumpy.” It was loose without any shape and looked almost lifeless. In fact, I wasn’t even looking for a shirt dress with a high low ruffled hem, but when I put it against my body, the silky soft material was the perfect length. You see, finding a maxi isn’t exactly easy when you’re 5 feet tall so I’m always kind of thrill to try on a maxi that might not need hemming.
Well… it was frumpy on but with the bffs: a waist belt, a denim jacket and some accessories, the dress went from drab to (IMHO) fab. Just like a book, you can’t judge by it’s covers, you can’t judge a dress when it’s on a hanger…My accessories and shoes were kept neutral for that boho-chic vibe and I threw in a burgundy (I wish the word oxblood would go away) bag for a subtle hint of color.

Love this look!!!! Dress is gorgeous on you!!!!
Hey! I love oxblood! So dark and mysterious, and way more sexy than burgundy! ;)
Whatever it’s called it was a great choice colour for a bag. Love the shoes and, of course, the arm swag! :)
Hey! I’m 5 feet too! :D
You will certainly “sex-ify” any frumpy looking dress KT….love how you styled it to perfection!
I love a good maxi dress. I can’t wait for summer!
Ooh, I love this, KT! What a fun, swirly dress! I love that you didn’t have to hem it. If I don’t have to hem a maxi, I can’t resist buying it (fortunately for my wallet, it doesn’t happen too often).
I’m with you on “oxblood.” Ew. The imagery it conjures up is just plain disturbing. Call it burgundy, maroon, cabernet, wine, merlot–anything but blood, please!
That’s a great dress.
Omg you are too cute! Love your style!
Great look! I love that dress and the way you put it together.
KT you pull off maxi dresses and skirts so effortlessly! I love the mix of casual elements in your outfit and love that playful shot of you!
Love that dress!! You look great including your pretty manicure ;-)
Love that hem! Gorgeous!
I can totally relate on the short thing! It’s so hard to find flattering maxi’s that fit! This one is fab on you love. Would love to hear your thoughts on my latest outfit post! xo
Champagne Lifestyle on a Beer Budget
This is adorable! I know how much you love your polka dots. :) And I agree SO much–oftentimes I see something that I think is only “meh” on the racks but I try it anyway for fun and I love it! Sometimes throwing on a cute jacket or accessorizing really can make all the difference in the world. Also, I’m still gaga over that GORGEOUS ring!
I like it styled with the jean jacket.
This is absolutely adorable!
What a gorgeous dress! The belt really adds shape to the overall look!!
Oh my goodness I love your outfit!!! You look darling! I am in love with that maxi!!!
The dress looks gorgeous on you. It’s amazing what you can do with a couple of accessories and denim jacket!
