Beach Therapy

“It’s hard for me to put into words why I like the beach so much. Everything about it is renewing for me, almost like therapy…Beach Therapy.” – Amy Dykens

Heels on high rocky surfaces like these are kinda not recommended. :)

Who does not love the beach? It is a place of healing and joy. The sun embraces us in its warmth and the sound of the ocean heals the heart, mind, and soul.

This weekend was finally warm enough for some beach time. NR and I took the windy road through Santa Cruz and drove down the coast until we reach the scenic “17 mile drive” at Pacific Grove. We ended up on the beautiful Pebble Beach where we spent the morning soaking in some sun and listened to the beautiful sound of the waves. If you ever visit Northern California, the 17 mile scenic drive is a must!

Continuation of our mini road trip later this week…Enjoy your Monday! xo.

Midnight Dreams

When I saw these high waisted BCBGeneration pants, it reminded me of my dreams: Gloomy, mysterious, and usually scattered without a beginning nor end…

I have passed up these pants over a dozen times on my secret lunch trips to Bloomingdales because I thought the prints were just a little too crazy for me. A couple of weeks ago, on another secret mission to one of my fave department stores, these pants popped up again. Feeling like my dreams are now trying to haunt me at my happiest place on earth (wtf?).

…I gave in. Tried on these things and fell in love with the silky material and the way it flows and moves as I paced around the fitting room. I wore them last week running around, but they are so soft and comfy I could practically sleep in them. I guess dark and gloomy dreams are not so bad after-all. :)

Remember When…

…life was so simple…  “sometimes we need to stop analyzing the past .. stop planning the future .. stop trying to figure out precisely how we feel .. stop deciding with our mind what we want our heart to feel and sometimes we just have to go with whatever…happens..happens.” – Anon

I am embracing all colors and prints this season and two of my fave spring trends are floral prints and pastel shades. The minute I saw this pastel circular hem cutout skirt, I was immediately drawn to it. And of course a sweet skirt is not complete without a sweet top. A few rows down, hanging all by its lonesome was this happy floral print (sheer) blouse. Naturally, this was a perfect combo for me and I went home a happy camper…

H&M has been quite on point with their inventory that I think I have about half of the store squeezed into my closet, but I think this floral blouse is on top of my fave list. So far, I have worn it with black trousers, a pencil skirt, a tulip skirt, a flared skirt and now this.

I’m always quite happy when I get the most use out of a purchase because wearing something only once or twice feels like such a waste.

Wild Daisy

I love a classic piece that can be paired in a variety of ways and this Zara leopard print skirt is just one I can wear over and over and over again. I mean literally because I pretty much wore it everyday this weekend (heyyy don’t judge! :).

Above, I wore it with an open back purple sweater for a night out with the girls on Friday and a green DVF blouse for a dinner date with friends on Saturday. Below, the same skirt was paired with something more casual for a day look.

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.”  -St. Thérèse de Lisieux

Color Me Pastels

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain

Pastels before spring?  Heck yea! Lilac, baby pink, sky blue, pale yellow, and spearmint are the quintessential color palette for springtime. Pastel colors are feminine, flirty and sophisticated which can also give off the feeling of ease and grace. Adding these accents has certainly perk up my winter wardrobe and got me a little more excited for sun-kiss weather (if you haven’t notice, I ‘m not a big fan of cold).

…But how do you wear Pastels?

Below are 3 looks I’ve created with a similar pair of high-waisted trousers via my polyvore page. Click on the templates below to get details on each item.

:: Pastels and the 3 B’s ::

Neutral tones complement pastels very nicely and while adding Brown and Beige balance out pastels, Black adds spunk to the delicate hues.

:: Pastels and Color-Blocking ::

Color-block pastels with black and white to add a touch of elegance, edge and jazz.

:: Pastels and Pastels ::

If your outfit consist mostly of pastels, be sure to add neutral tones to balance out the cotton candy colors and to avoid landing in the Easter egg territory.
