With the temperatures heating up in the 90’s, I wanted to discuss a pre-summer staple in my closet. The little swing dress.

I wore this swing dress that I made a while back on Mother’s Day to hang with the family and just spent the whole day relaxing, lounging and eating. It’s my perfect “daytime dress” because while the silhouette is very girly and feminine, the fit and flare adds a playful element to a comfortable and easy-going style.. This classic dress can be accessorized in so many ways and it can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with flats.  It’s definitely my favorite versatile dress at the moment and perfect for consuming all-you-can-eat family buffets without feeling too self conscious. You know, sometimes a girl just want to let it all hang out without really letting it all hang out. Solution = swing dress! :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day and am I glad it’s Thursday, a little bit closer to freedom!

I was literally buried in my laptop this weekend, obsessively trying to get my new blog theme up and running. 9 hours on Saturday and a few hours on Sunday later…sadly my programming skills are kind of rusty and I was left with this same o’ theme. At times like this I wish my husband was a programmer or engineer, or a rocket scientist and perhaps a mechanic. Why didn’t he study these sort of things in anticipation of my needs???!@!

Anyhow, Mr. Reed finally put his foot down and dragged me out of the house and we ventured into Nordstrom Rack. Lately I have scored on some fabulous finds! This jacket is my latest obsession…and best of all it’s only $50!

Hope your weekend was an excellent one! xo

Whenever I feel like my outfit has too much of one or the other, I’ll swap it out for a substitute until I find my balance. I think it’s important to experiment, mix and match your favorite pieces to find the look that works for you.

When it comes to coloring hair I can say I’m one of the many that had a pretty traumatic experience. It was a bleach gone wrong kind of experience…I’m talking about 8 inches of hair falling out in the shower and sudden new found 2-inch bangs kind of trauma. All of a sudden I had 4 layers of stringy blonde hair that will break at a gentle pull. I know it’s kind of dramatic and its just hair but I couldn’t help it. I must have cried for days every time I looked in the mirror.

After many years trying to nurture my hair back to life with every product on the market, I always, always go to a professional, but this weekend I felt impulsive and picked up a hair dye from a local store. A girl just never learn I guess (lol). Even though I love my ombre hair, I just kind of grew tired of it so decided to go dark for winter. Well, luckily no trauma or accident this time (whew) and I love the fresh new darker shade of black with hints of leftover brown.

P.S. I have many asked before what I used to curl my hair: I used Caruso’s steam rollers which is amazing because it’s less damaging and is the best tool I’ve used for  long-lasting curls. :)
