Lisianthus

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of print mixing. It’s so much fun, to carelessly throw two very different patterns together that somehow not only can co-exist but also compliment one another in an effortless way. The Spring/Summer 2013 fashion week season promised so many interesting prints and patterns all mixed and mashed in one ensemble with reckless abandonment, which I love. Sometimes it’s a bit risky but print mixing looks so awesome when you get that right combination.

One of my favorite print is floral because it goes with pretty much anything. For example this outfit was total accidental. I had on a white crop sweater yesterday morning over this stripes tank and the oldest pencil skirt in the history of all pencil skirts.  It’s really that ancient and is pretty much falling apart, but it’s so stretchy and comfortable that I refuse to throw it out. Well, being the clumsy person that I am, I spilled coffee all over my sweater. Luckily I had this blazer in the car and actually love the combination far more than what I’d originally wore. The moral of the story and why I just put you through a really boring example is sometimes unplanned things are better than thought-out ones! :)

Happy weekend guys! I’m going to a wedding this Sat and am excited to share with you how I’m going to make a formal evening dress (for the reception) work for a day time ceremony. See ya on Monday!

Leopard Spotlight

Don’t you hate it when you try to look so cool but your shirt or whatever you’re wearing is all bunched up? Yeah.

Whenever I feel like my ensemble is kind of plain, I’ll add a little bit of colors or a fun print and it’ll instantly give the outfit an extra boost. This leopard print vest is currently my favorite throw-on-anything outerwear. It’s so versatile and goes amazing with jeans + tee, leggings + sweater or just a simple dress. It’s practically the spotlight of the outfit. I said this before and I’ll say it again, when in doubt, wear leopard…….or wear red. That’s always a nice combination! Happy Friday!

Lately my wardrobe has been over-ruled by all things red. Red shoes, red polishes, red scarves, red handbags and this beautiful red romper. In addition to the scallop lace details delicately connecting the sleeves and sides, the vampy color is the perfect shade of red for the holidays. I think red is supposed to be the color of passion, desire, love & sex-appeal, but when I think of red, I think of rebelling. As in I-want-to-steal-a-bike-and-ride-it-down highway-1 rebelling. Ok, maybe not. But maybe this burst of fearlessness can get me to ride a bicycle without crashing into everyone and everything. It’s pretty terrifying. :(

Speaking of vampy, I’m getting all vamped up for Friday, November 16th. Can you guess the occasion? :D

Loving Him is Red

Red is such a bold and iconic color and with certainty, it is my favorite color to wear. Putting on a red dress makes me feel instantly confident, energetic and happy.

Although maxi skirts were a summer favorite, I’m definitely still in love with the floor-grazing look this fall. The easiest way to transition a maxi from summer to fall is by choosing patterns rooted in darker hues and adding layers such as a fitted jacket, scarf or sweater. Since our October weather is still sort of warm, I wore a crop top for day and added a light denim jacket for evening. I’m loving this easy breezy, fun, casual-glam look and I’m looking forward to more maxi fall outfits.

What’s your fall maxi style and do you have any suggestions on footwear with maxis?

Sweet November

When it comes to clothes, it’s important that I find pieces that can be worn more than once and in a variety of ways. I love to remix, recycle and remake existing things in my wardrobe.  This skirt I’m wearing is actually the same skirt I wore in my last post. I wore it as a mini by pulling it up and folding it under. The material was pretty snug so the fold stayed in place. This time, I wanted to wear it as a long pencil skirt. It was a quick fix for a different look. Which length do you prefer?

Whenever sweet November rolls around I know autumn is truly here. It is the time of year when all the leaves has transformed in it’s most beautiful shades of sunset yellows, reds, orange and gold. I can feel the slight breeze in my hair and the warm sun kissed against my neck. But why is November so sweet? For me, it’s because it’s the start of the holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas, my favorite time of year for so many reasons.

I hope you are having a wonderful Friday so far and have a safe weekend!
