What are your thoughts on New Year’s Resolutions? For the last 2 years, a few of my girlfriends & I would get together right before the holidays for dinner and put our new year resolutions in a “safe.” The safe keeper (me) cannot open the envelopes until we meet at the end of the year…I really love the idea of setting goals and having someone hold me to it. In a way it pushes me to not forget my goals…I hope your 2014 is all about chasing dreams, following your heart & doing what YOU love!! And of course peace of mind, prosperity, happiness, good health!! Happy New Year! ? K

What I love about fashion and clothing is not the expensive labels or the fancy stuff. Of course they are fun to have…but what’s really exciting to me is re-wearing something old and re-creating something new. My top is from last year and my skirt is from my mom who wore it 30 years ago…

When I saw this knit pencil skirt in my mom’s closet I was 1) surprise I liked it and 2) knew I had to steal borrow it. It’s funny because growing up I never thought I’d like anything in my her closet. It’s pretty cool to know that I’m fitting into my mom’s clothes from 30 years ago and I love it! I love this knit sweater skirt because it’s so comfortable and cozy and it’s perfect for multi-styling (casual or dressy). I’ll be back next week mom, I hope you don’t mind! :)

I’m a huge fan of delicate girly dresses but sometimes it’s nice to juxtapose feminine pieces with something a bit edgy. This little leather vest with gold hardware was perfect and the vivid black sets a nice contrast against the soft peach. Sometimes the most interesting outfits can come from mixing different elements of colors, edge and sweetness…breaking up the expected and pairing it with the unexpected.

This dress was a cute find from F21 that I was really excited about. But it was only after the purchase that I realized it doesn’t have much of a shape and it’s a pretty typical maxi dress that has been seen on many. I love the dress but I wanted to find a key accessory to make it stand out and I didn’t want to do a predictable statement necklace. When I saw this adorable 20’s inspired headpiece, I was immediately in love with the crystal embellishments and the little bow detail. It has the perfect subtle amount of glitz and adding it to the outfit creates an eye catching look that took this dress from dull to fab. Ahh, the miracles of accessories. :)

One of the things that I love about NY is the fact that there are as many bodegas as there are photo ops conveniently located at every corner. Whether it is an alley way, next to a dirty glass door, against random brick walls, a dumpster, or even in front of 99 cent City, everything just looks a little bit cooler…

I wasn’t going anywhere important on this sunny and warm day , just down the street and around the corner to my favorite Caribbean fast food joint, Golden Crust (actually that was important). I wanted to test out these booties to see how comfortable they are before I actually wear them out at night. The verdict? Umm, not so comfortable after say 45 minutes, but they are so freakin’ sexy it’s worth it. Sorry feet.
