We all know that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and it’s always interesting how the perception of “beauty” changes from person to person. Of course everyone has the right to their opinion but does it mean it’s ok to not have any manners?

I know with fashion blogging it’s inevitable that I will come across negative comments from time to time. After-all, I am putting myself out there…In the last few months, my photos were posted on a few instagram fashion accounts and facebook pages. There were nice comments but among those were some ridiculous comments such as my arms are too fat or my legs are too big and they need to be skinnier.

By no means has any of these comments affected my self esteem because I happen to love my body the exact way that it is, but I can’t help but feel sad how such rude and thoughtless comments are affecting the million of young girls out there who are depressed and/or are suffering from serious eating disorders and what harmful things they could be doing to their bodies just to fit the perception of beauty.

I’m certain these “mean girls” may be nice somewhere deep down in their tiny little black hearts, and the need to criticize someone stemmed from their own suffering, insecurity and lack of love and appreciation, but it makes me angry that folks like these can affect someone out there who is truly having real life issues or can caused someone to think that they are not beautiful enough. It’s a shame that instead of uplifting each other as women, some prefer to drag you down.

This topic is close and dear to my heart because I have close friends and family who has been affected in one way or another and I’ve always try to be the most positive and uplifting cheerleader for them, hoping it can help but sometimes it doesn’t.

Have you ever been affected by negative comments either from a friend, co-worker or a stranger on the internet? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

The Pinkest Pink

As you can probably guess, I’m a huge fan of all things girly… Pink, check. Pearls, check. Bows, check. Lace, check. Fun, feminine skirts, double checks! I made a similar skirt in green about a month ago, and as if it’s not girly enough, I’ve added more pleats and doubled up the bow. It seems like this love affair is not going to fade anytime soon.

Gosh is it Friday yet? The long awaited 3-day weekend is finally near. Do you have any fun plans? Also I know NYFW is right around the corner and I’m excited to go back to NY. I’ll be there for part of fashion week and to celebrate my girl’s last days as a single lady and where else is best to do that than in NY. The things to do are endless, the people are beautiful, the diversity in cuisine is amazing, and of course we can’t leave out the shopping. If you have the sudden urge to shuffle through clothes at the wee hours in the morning, Forever 21 closes at 2AM. :)

Midnight Blues

I’m going to sound quite redundant but I love H&M. Some of the cutest items I own came from this store; including this perfectly structured peplum top in a various midnight blue shades with a dark starry-sky-like print. It’s almost like looking up in the sky at night and all you see are different shades of navy.

When I purchased this Marc Jacobs Crosby Sutton bag a couple of weeks ago, I thought I would regret choosing her over a Valentino and a Celine, but each time I see her in photos, I love her even more.

She’s a structure bag that’s unique in her own right, is lightweight and extremely versatile. I normally carry her as a tote with the versatility of the re-moveable straps, but when my arms gets tired, I’ll throw her over the shoulder or use her as a crossbody. The gold hardware and soft pebble leather adds character and the domed silhouette was exactly what I have been looking for. What’s even better? There are a lot of compartments and I can pretty much put everything in this bag…Definitely my go-to bag lately and will be for a while.

What’s your favorite everyday go-to bag?

Who needs thigh high boots when there’s pants like these?

I’ve always been a little intimated to wear leather (or leather-like) pants, so I’m taking baby steps with these BCBGeneration Jasper “denim meets leather” hybrid pants….and quickly I fell in love. It’s stretch skinnies with an unexpected edge that will instantly make you feel like you can kick anyone’s ass. Perhaps next time, I’ll go the full length!
