High on Denim

Sometimes DIY projects gone wrong can turn out not too shabby. I ran out of bleach while trying to turn these vintage Levi’s white but instead the result was this nicely faded stone wash.

Have you ever DIY’d something and though it has gone wrong but it turned out perfect?

Hello lovelies, as you’re reading this, I’m probably baking in the hot & humid desert of Las Vegas (100+ degrees). Not to worry, we are armed with SPF 25 and brought plenty of Capri suns and other various juices to keep us hydrated for days. Have a fabulous weekend, stay out of trouble and talk to you soon! Kisses!

Back to Basics

A no fuss kinda day consist of basic denims and a simple white tee. But being comfortable doesn’t mean your outfit have to be blah. The best way to spice up jeans and a tee is with key accessories: A pattern or colorful scarf, a pair of heels, a trendy bag or a chic jacket. My pick was this power shoulder studded leather jacket… which is nothing but basic.

Although I’m a skirt and dresses kind of gal, I love a good pair of jeans. I can’t stand to feel restricted so it’s important that my jeans are moveable and comfortable. Who doesn’t want jeans that’s extremely soft and are nonrestrictive… Some of my favorite jeans lately are Buffalo David Bitton, 74AM, and Citizens of Humanity and Joe’s Jeans.

What are some of your favorite denim brands and why do you love them?

I haven’t done one of my Fab4 looks in a while and wanted to do it again. This time I wanted to feature my beautiful bestie who owns the same versatile studded jacket. Isn’t she lovely? I’m secretly trying to convince her to start a style blog. I mean, she has major swag and her style is totally inspirational!  :) xoxo

Walking On Sunshine

Vibrant, feminine, delicate with a dash of edge and sass… These beauties are just my cup of tea! I found these yellow Zara sandals during a shopping trip in LA and it was the very last pair in my size! I have the worst luck when it comes to finding a size 6 at Zara (in store), let along something so pretty and wearable. It seems like my obsession with neon is not going to subside anytime soon.

In addition for my love for neon, one of my favorite summer trends are high waisted distressed denim studded shorts (that’s a mouth full!). A couple of months ago it was somewhat difficult to find them in stores, at least ones that are high waisted, distressed and has studs. They were mostly sold online and ranged anywhere between $75-$200… For something that I’ll wear only during the summer, economically it’s more efficient to make them at home. It’s pretty easy too! Cut, snip, thrown in washer/dryer and voila!

These particularly shorts were originally a pair of high waisted mom’s jeans purchased from a vintage shop for $10. Since I recently made a pair of blue distressed shorts, I experimented with bleach to turn this pair into white shorts. I was pretty happy with the results!

The awesome thing about DIY projects is that you can customize them to be exactly how you like. And since it’s your labor of love, it’s extra special. I love arts & crafts so naturally DIY projects are always fun for me (well until something goes wrong lol). Do you like to DIY? I’d love to know what’s your most prized DIY project… Mine was a piece of art that took me over 6 months to complete.

You can check out my DIY instructions on my first pair of distressed demin shorts here.

Happy Friday lovers! xo

Caribbean Vacation Diaries: Part 3

(St. Maarten, Great Bay Beach)

We spent the last two days of our Caribbean vacation on the beach laid under unbrellas  in hopes of recovering from the sunburns (shame on me for always underestimating the sun!), ate lots of Caribbean food and sipped on pina coladas.

Caribbean Vacation Diaries: Part 2

As our ship set sail to Barbados, we spent most of the day soaking in lots of Vitamins D’s… We ate, sipped on our signature drink, “The Disarita,” napped and just relaxed. At night, we got dressed up for dinner, watched shows (comedy, magic, etc.) and gambled in the casino.
