Caribbean Vacation Diaries: Part 1

[Picture was taken in St. Thomas, USVI, Coki Beach)

Our 7-day journey via Carnival Victory cruise was an amazing trip. If you ever want to see the southern Caribbean in one week, this cruise is a must. We flew a red eye flight into Old San Juan, PR, then embarked our ship to five beautiful islands of the Caribbean: St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and St. Maarten.

A Glimpse Inside

Hello my lovelies! I hope you are having an amazing day! I started out cleaning my dresser the other night because my jewelries has gotten a little out of control. But the ‘crazy little cleaning lady’ in me started curating everything from my makeup to my favorite pair of high heels and handbags (and will be tackling the wardrobe next — stay tuned for part 2). Here’s just a little glimpse inside my closet… hopefully this will give you a break from seeing too much of me! :)

Cut Out for Love

I used to feel nervous about wearing maxi dresses because I felt like I was too short…

…but there’s nothing a pair of heels (or a pair of sharp scissors) can’t fix…nowadays I can’t get enough of these long flowy dresses.

Dress: Forever21 cut out twist front maxi dress (similar here)
Vest: Dollhouse denim vest
Shoes: Alexander Wang Isabeli leopard sandals (old)
Hat: David & Young Neo Noir fedora
Necklace: Sequin twirl link necklace / Bracelets:  Cuffs from Bloomingdales / Ring: House of Harlow

If it’s one thing I love it’s a dress that can be transformed and styled for a variety of  occasions. This Forever 21 cut out twist front maxi is not only comfortable (the material is so soft) but it’s equally wearable for day as it is for night (and would have been perfect for this ‘holiday emergency’)…For a casual look, I simply added a denim vest and hat. Flats would also be a complimentary addition to this outfit (but forgetful me left them at home).

The twist detail at the front waist and decorative side cut outs adds a chic & sexy vibe while the soft jersey fabric keeps you cool during those hot summer nights…Oh how I adore when fashion collides with comfort! This gorgeous dress is a fab find and a timelessly classic piece that will last all season long, and beyond.

Ladies: Have you ever felt uncertain/insecure about wearing something but overcame it?

Leg baring season is finally here and there’s no trendier way to show off those stems than in high-waisted denim cut-off shorts I have been kind of obsessed with them and discovered (thanks to Sabrina of The Petite Style) these H&M dip dye pink shorts from the new “Fashion Against Aids” collection. Although I was looking for a blue light-wash pair with studs (like these), these pink babies was a lovely addition with a splash of color injected to my black top and polka dots cardigan.

Ladies: Would you wear high waisted denim cut-off shorts?

Beach Therapy

“It’s hard for me to put into words why I like the beach so much. Everything about it is renewing for me, almost like therapy…Beach Therapy.” – Amy Dykens

Heels on high rocky surfaces like these are kinda not recommended. :)

Who does not love the beach? It is a place of healing and joy. The sun embraces us in its warmth and the sound of the ocean heals the heart, mind, and soul.

This weekend was finally warm enough for some beach time. NR and I took the windy road through Santa Cruz and drove down the coast until we reach the scenic “17 mile drive” at Pacific Grove. We ended up on the beautiful Pebble Beach where we spent the morning soaking in some sun and listened to the beautiful sound of the waves. If you ever visit Northern California, the 17 mile scenic drive is a must!

Continuation of our mini road trip later this week…Enjoy your Monday! xo.
