Summertime Blues
Just when I thought I was over the high low craze, I ran into this BCBGeneration high low hem dress and fell in love with the flowy, flirty and feminine look all over again (similar look here). It was purchased for my Caribbean vacay but I never had the chance to wear it because I over packed a little, but it was perfect for a summer day while out-n-about in LA last week. I added a denim vest for a casual look, which also gave the loose frock a little bit of shape.
When I’m at home I like to have my hair pulled back in a ponytail and tucked behind a comfortable headband, but my head always hurt after wearing a headband for a long time…Recently I tried out these classic headbands from Stone Bridge, an England based company that specializes in luxury French handmade hair accessories. These classic everyday wear headbands felt like they were made for my head. It’s so comfortable I practically lived in them all weekend.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and your Monday is off to a great start! :)
I love the idea of denim over a light, pretty dress! I actually styled a very similar outfit on my blog last week ironically! haha. I love that it gives the dress a completely different feel though and makes it so easy to take the dress from day to night simply with one piece!

I love that dress! Such a good buy, you can dress it down like you have today or dress it up for any event.
I absolutely love it! Great dress, and I love how you made it casual by adding the vest, perfect for a daytime look. I can’t wait to see how you style it for a night out look. Love the shoes and the headband, too. You always look absolutely put together, and I love that! :)
I’m obsessed over the denim vest and dress combination. It’s girlie with an edge, not to mention the Colin Stuart sandals are so nice.

You look so stunning! Who is your photographer! Many props to him or her! These pictures or your edits make your blog look like you ripped pages out of a magazine.
I totally love the denim vest with this flowy dress. Glad you didn’t pass on this high-low dress, although I get what you mean about feeling “over” it lately. But this dress is awesome on you and the vest gives it a new twist.

I am totally loving the high-low look on you! At first, I was admittedly discouraged by the high-low trend because I thought only taller girls could pull them off, but now I see that I was quite wrong, my fellow petite blogger! I love how that cute denim vest instantly makes the dress more casual, and those taupe and gold sandals are so enviably gorgeous!
Kisses!

Thanks Sabby! After reading your comment I should have name my post, “Hey tall girls! We can wear high low skirts too!” haha!
You look absolutely stunning in that shade of blue! I’d say it was a very good purchase indeed!

So pretty! This color compliments your skin really well! Love your accessories and the dress! There are some items on Stone Bridge that I think is cute. I live in London but never heard of the company. Thanks for the review! Btw – how do you get your hair to curl? I have thick straight hair like yours and my curls always fall right our as soon as I curl them! :(
Hi Rebecca,
I use steam rollers! They are great and my curls last all day (sometimes 2 days!). The brand is Caruso and you can get them at Sallys or on Amazon. Your should try them!
I’m totally loving this dress! From the picture on the site, you really make it looked better in my opinion. The headband is also cute, I checked out the site and there’s some really cute items on there. I too hate to have my hair in my face when I get home from work so the first thing I reach for is my headband or a scrunchie!
Aww thanks so much Sasha!
Hey Love! You look fabulous. I’m a fan of high-low pieces as well. :D I almost picked up that necklace at F21 this past weekend, but left it in the store at the last minute. I may have to go back to get them. ha ha. And I had a questions about these heels… are they comfy? They’re in my VS shopping cart, but don’t know if I should purchase them. My feet are on the wider side, so I don’t know how flattering they’ll look on my foot.
Well, I hope you’re Monday is off to a great start so far… I’m just waiting… waiting for my coffee to kick in. Ha!

Hey Sharon! My feet are kinda on the wide side so at first the shoes fit a little tight, but I used a shoe stretcher to stretch it out a little bit. It’s still not a pair I could walk for miles in, but it’s doable if you’re only wearing it for a couple hours. I really love them because they go with everything!!
Beautiful colors! This is a gorgeous dress! I saw it on the rack at Macys last week but didn’t even look twice because it looked really loose and unflattering on the hanger. You made it look chic and gave it shape without using a belt but a cropped vest instead. I love it!
You look STUNNING! I love the blue and the headband is super cute, too.
