Petite Fashion Challenge #15: Chic Pin-spiration
I’m excited to participate in my 3rd Petite Fashion Challenge #15 (PFC) and this month’s challenge is hosted by Long Live Classy. Check out her blog to see the list of other participants.
The Challenge: “Find a pic of an outfit you love on Pinterest, and re-create it the best way possible!”
I remember falling in love with Carrie Bradshaw’s green mint tulle skirt in Sex and the City, so as soon as I read the challenge details I knew exactly who’s outfit I wanted to recreate! After checking online for a similar skirt with not much luck, I decided to create my own… Two days of ‘trial and error’, eleven yards and 6 layers of tulle later, please say hello to my little creation!
Every girl needs to own a tulle skirt. They are playful, feminine, and so much fun! Best of all, it’s one step closer to feeling like a princess! Carrie’s outfit was my inspiration, but I wanted to add my own personal touches…
From the start I knew I wanted these photos to be taken on top of a hill, somewhere filled with greenery, nature and a bit of a view. We were in Pacifica and came across this beautiful spot. Even though there was a small hill to hike (if you’re wondering, I switched shoes lol), when we reached the top it was perfection.
[Photos by NR] Top: BCBGMAXAZARIA Nydia rope trim silk top Skirt: Mint green DIY tulle skirt Shoes: Colin Stuart ankle strap sandals Headpiece: Ficcare double arch headband Bracelets: Spikes from Ebay / H&M green & pink bangle / DIY wrap braceletsI love these fashion challenges because it gives me an opportunity to be creative and pushes me to think outside of the box. It’s the same reason why I started blogging and the same reason why I enjoy it so much.
The getting dolled up part is always fun no doubt, but it’s the creative ideas surrounding the execution in making an image look “outside of the ordinary” is what I’m most fascinated with. That’s why creations such as this, this and this constantly inspires me. Sadly I don’t have the equipment and manpower for many of my sometimes impractical ideas but maybe one day it’ll come to life on my blog… :)
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you’re having a wonderful day! xo

Thank you Abbey! I actually sell these on my blog…so I can’t give out my secret! j.k! :) There should be some DIY tutorials online if you are interested in making them. xo -K

could you please post a DIY on this…. I would love to recreate it in pink!!! This is gorgeous, you look great!
Ok I really love the skirt. I commented several posts ago on your bracelet. I noticed that it looks a little different than two posts ago, did you do a DIY on your ebay spiked bracelet to obtain the new look. If not, do you remember which seller you bought the bracelet from on ebay. I have been trying to find one with this look for months.
Hey there! No I have two…the one I wore recently in the “Something Blue” post is different from this one but it looks very similar because the spikes are the exact same size. I’ll send you the link via email :)

WOW! That skirt is AMAZING! 100 times better than Carrie Bradshaw! I can’t believe you made that yourself.
Omgosh that’s a really huge compliment. Thanks hun!
So, so gorgeous! Tulle is so hard to pull off but I absolutely love how you wore yours higher-waisted than Carrie did to accentuate your figure.
Do you sell your DIY’s? I can’t even come close to pulling off tulle, but I know Elle @ Fast Food and Fast Fashion has been stalking AT’s tulle skirt ;)
Thank you Cee, I wasn’t planning on it but since a few ladies asked, I think I will….
Hehe, I will pass along this news to Elle :)
Oops! Sorry for the abbreviation. Sometimes I forget that other people’s minds don’t shorten names like mine does :D She really likes this Ann Taylor tulle skirt.
It’s really cute! Thanks Cee! I also sent you a tweet…
You make me want to go out and buy a tulle skirt now (or better yet make one :). Please do a tutorial on how you made yours!! It looks so good and wow, 11 yards? Was it expensive to make? Did you make one of those underskirt too?
You definitely did a great job by making this tulle! I like it lots!! You sure look like you are having fun with this new toy =D
I absolutely adore your blog and this outfit! I love the colors! You are an inspiration!

You look like a beautiful fairy princess dancing on the hill top. Carrie is a great choice. I love your outfit more than her. You did such an amazing job on the tulle skirt.
This is the season for a mint tulle skirt! I adore the headpiece.
Another great PFC entry!!! You always do such a great job! Now, I want a tulle skirt. lol
ummm WOW! What a great tulle skirt and a great color. You have surpassed even SJP’s outfit.
This is just so beautiful, the skirt is gorgeous and I really admire your creativity! xxx
Wow you always have beautiful photos and you totally rock that skirt!!
i loooooooooove this skirt! 11 yards and 6 layers of tulle equals a fantastically lovely tulle skirt!
Holy crapp 11 yards.. Really? Lol well it turned out amazing!
WOW WOW WOW!! This is BEAUTIFUL! Not only did you made this skirt to replicate Carrie’s look, but when you added your own personal touches it looks even better! I am so impressed with your style and creativity! These pictures really belong in a magazine.
love love love that tulle skirt. you are a doll! <3 your bracelets too!!!
This is an amazing outfit. Perfection at it’s best. I really love that tulle skirt. Please share the DIY and where I can get the fabric.
WOW, to say I love this would be an understatement. You did a phenomenal job!
Ahhhh mazing!!! I love this look!!! It’s even better that you made that skirt! A lot of trial and error? Well, it looks amazing right now, so I’m sure the other attempts were just as good. I love your version of it. The top is beautiful. You always have the most amazing pieces, and I love how you put them together to make great outfits. I love how you take the time to go to places to take pictures and they’re always the most beautiful scenery ever, perfect match for the outfits. :) Such an inspiration.
P.S. I know what you mean about Chictopia. That’s why I stopped posting there. I had complained before and I felt like I was black listed after I complained. I used to make it to the style gallery, but now, I don’t anymore, and I don’t even try to post there like I do on my site. I think I’ve made closer connections with people on my website compared to Chictopia, which is supposed to be a closer knit community. I think you should definitely be a style icon! :)
ahhhhh soooo much fun!! From the inspiration (loove S&C) to your recreation!!!
Whoa! Hey there, Carrie Bradshaw! You didn’t go for a timid pin-speration at all. Kudos! I love it!
Oh, KT! Where do I start?! This look is amazing beyond words! You look astoundingly gorgeous and I’m so impressed that you made your own skirt! I adore how everything just goes together so wonderfully–from the headbands to the thin rope detail to your skirt, to how you employed this season’s persevering mint green trend (probably thanks to Queen Carrie, that trendsetter)! Very feminine, classy, and pretty. And these shots are so beautiful too, Nate did an incredible job!

Wow, impressive creation! I love both outfits and the background is gorgeous as well. Looks like your hike was well worth it!
Absolutely stunning! Now if only you were on the east coast so you could teach me how to make my own lol. I love love love everything you did with this challenge.
Wow, I am in love with your outfit. The skirt is beautiful and you look like tinker bell!
This is soo adorable. That colour and skirt looks AMAZING on you and I love the photos!
OMFG these pictures are amazing. JSP can do no wrong in my book (ever!) but I actually like your skirt better. It’s brighter and not wrinkle! So creative and those images below where you added your own additions are stunning. Your hair is so dreamy and romantic and you look like a princess!
